The perfect use of space & light.
The project looks at removing a conservatory space with the typical seasonal problems of over-heating in summer and too cold to utilise in winter. The property currently has limited access to the utility space which can only be accessed from outside due to a lower mezzanine level bedroom above having an impact on headroom in the utility room.
The scheme looks to remove the problematic conservatory and through a new build extension create a contemporary open plan kitchen/dining lounge area at the rear of the property. Access to the lower level utility space is brought inside via 3 feature stairs adjacent to the kitchen space to provide the correct connections and flow of the space.
Large bi-folding screens and fixed side glazing panels add a modern element to extension and create a strong connection to the garden space. The existing character of the property is brought back into the extension with dressings to the bi-folds in the similar style to the dressing of the existing external canopy space. Under floor heating is incorporated to create specific heating zones within the house along with a feature floating log burner.
